About
What Bond is, and what it deliberately is not
Bond is a relationship wellness app for couples, and individuals who want to understand their own patterns first. It measures how a couple operates, keeps a small daily ritual going, and suggests what to try next — without diagnosing, scoring a relationship as pass or fail, or taking a side.
Why it exists
Most relationship advice fails for the same reason: it is generic. "Communicate better" is true and useless. What people actually need is a specific observation about their own relationship and one thing to do about it — and that requires measurement first.
Bond exists to close that gap. It borrows the assessment approach used in clinical and research settings, scores it properly, and then explains the result in plain language rather than jargon.
The methods behind it
Bond draws on established frameworks rather than inventing its own:
- Gottman Method — for the four patterns that predict breakdown, and for repair.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy — for how closeness and distance are negotiated.
- attachment theory — for what people do when connection feels uncertain.
- Nonviolent Communication — for the structure of hard conversations.
We are explicit about the limits. These frameworks are useful lenses, not laws, and some of them — the five love languages in particular — have weaker empirical support than their popularity suggests. Where that is true, we say so in the app and on the blog.
How privacy actually works
This is the part most relationship apps are vague about, so here it is precisely:
- Your writing is never sent to an AI model. Check-in notes, reflections, messages and assessment answers are not logged and are not used as input. Insights are generated from derived numbers — scores, bands, counts and streaks.
- Individual results stay individual. Your partner sees a shared result only for an assessment you have both completed. Your raw answers are never shown to them.
- Reflections are yours to place. Each one is private, shared with your partner, or shared with a clinician — and you can change that at any time.
- Therapist sharing needs both of you. A clinician only sees what you explicitly mark, only while both partners consent, and either partner can withdraw instantly.
- You can leave cleanly. Export your data or delete your account at any time.
What Bond will not do
- It will not diagnose a condition or assess whether your relationship is healthy enough to continue.
- It will not tell you who is right.
- It will not pretend to be a therapist, and it says so on every AI-generated screen.
- It will not sell your data or use your private writing to train anything.
If you are in crisis
Bond is not a crisis service and cannot help in an emergency. If you or someone you care about is in danger, please contact a local emergency number or a support line directly — our safety page lists them by country.
Who builds it
Bond is built by a small team, independently. If you have a question, a correction or a request, we would rather hear it than not.
